Properties

Methyl 2,2,3,3-tetrafluoro-3-methoxypropionate is a colorless transparent liquid with an aromatic odor. It is flammable, chemically stable, relatively non-toxic, and prone to decomposition at high temperatures. Its relative density is 1.33 g/cm³, boiling point 158 ℃ (101.3 kPa), flash point 48 ℃. It is soluble in some organic solvents such as ethanol, acetone and dichloromethane, and sparingly soluble in water. It is an important fluorochemical raw material. It can be used as a solvent and for the production of perfluorinated or partially fluorinated vinyl ethers, key intermediates for perfluorocarboxylic acid resins. It is also applied to manufacture adhesives, fuels, pharmaceutical intermediates, fluoropolymers and other products.
